Areas of Practice

Quality

To assess the quality of delivery of care, I recommend collection of indicators concerning business, process, and clinical outcomes. Business indicators include cases volume, number of providers, total minutes billed, top ten cases done, and average durations of anesthetics. Process indicators include on-time starts, case cancellations, documentation compliance, and patient complaints. Clinical outcome indicators include the number of cases in which various critical events occurred. Patient experience indicators include postoperative nausea, vomiting, pain, patient complaints and satisfaction.

practice management

Practice methods and styles can be unproductive or unsafe. I will advise you on how to be cost-effective and safe with the patient in mind.

The balance between providing care safely at the lowest cost possible is a fine needle to thread.

Legal consultation

Anesthesia and Procedural providers have a responsibility to determine if a patient is a suitable candidate for any proposed procedure, or, if any special precautions should be taken prior to and/or during the procedure. Not only must a patient’s condition warrant the performance of a procedure, but, their overall health must allow for the surgery to be performed without undue risk of harm. Preoperative testing, intra-procedure care and postoperative management are integral to the necessary evaluation of a patient undergoing surgery. A failure to properly and timely perform these functions may constitute result in malpractice.
